On Wednesday July, 6, 2016, one of our volunteers accompanied one of our clients for his Compensation and Pension interview at VA Palo Alto Hospital. As a bilingual Veteran, he preferred someone to accompany him and helped him with interpretation.
When they arrived at VA Palo Alto Hospital, our volunteer was asked of her function. She mentioned she would be interpreting for our client. So the attending Psychologist asked her of our client's primary language.
The Psychologist then requested our volunteer to wait in the lobby while she connected to a VA Physician who spoke our client's primary language. After the interview, our Veteran client was very pleased with what VA had to offer and he said he was able to articulate his issues in his own primary language. Thanks VA, for doing Veterans first.
