What is included with my Armed Forces Day Race 1-mile walk/run?
Participants will receive a custom Armed Forces Day Run race shirt, race bib and sponsor goodies. The 1-mile event is not timed.
Is Veterans Supportive Services Agency a charity or a non-profit organization?
Yes. VSSA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to help eligible Veterans apply for service connected disability life-time compensation. We are solely dedicated to providing life enhancing supportive services to US Armed Forces Veterans and their families. Serving Veterans since 2011.
Can I run with a jogging stroller and my kids?
Yes! The course is on the trail system throughout Lake Cunningham Park. If you are not a competitive runner, we ask that you start in the “back of the pack” with the stroller to avoid any unnecessary collisions. This event is designed to be very family and community friendly and is a reason why children under 11 have a discounted registration fee with an adult entry.
Can I run with my dog?
Dogs are welcome however, for the safety of our runners and other animals in attendance, we ask that you keep your animals on a leash at all times and that you clean up after them before, during and after the run. If you're not a competitive runner, we do ask that you try and start at the back of the pack to eliminate any tripping hazards that come with the “4-leg” runners on the course!
Is there an age limit for younger runners? Do they need to register?
No age limits! If they can cover (running, jogging, walking, strolling) the three miles of Armed Forces Day Run course, they can absolutely participate. Remember though, even though children under 11 have a discounted entry with an adult registration, we still ask that they register to receive their timing tag, bib, shirt, etc.
Is there a packet pick up for the event? How does all that work?
Yes. Packet Pickup details are listed above.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, as long as you have some identification for them, we are happy to let you pick up packets for others.
Will there be awards?
Yes! Awards will be given to the Overall Male and Female finisher plus the top three finishers in the following age groups: 1-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+. Age Group Awards will be based on chip time. Overall winners will be exempt from age group awards.
